Agile Estimation and Project Planning

This session provides an overview of agile estimation and project planning with user stories and Scrum.
It explains:

• - the fundamental principles such as story points and product backlog, 
• - defines activities such as sprint planning and backlog grooming, and 
• - highlights the differences between agile and traditional approaches.

Speaker Biography

Oleg Sych is a Senior Consultant with AgileThought. He has been working as a professional software engineer since 1993, building distributed enterprise applications since 2000 and leading teams development teams since 2002.
Oleg received multiple MVP awards from Microsoft in C# and Visual Studio ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) categories. His professional interests include agile software architecture and development process.

 

Managing Multiple Projects Feb 10, 2012

The ability to manage multiple projects is difficult and complex. There is constant conflict in balancing shared resources across several projects and managing the expectations of projectsponsors, functional managers and stakeholders.  Competing priorities for resources, schedules and budgets is a complicated environment for a project manager to succeed.

We are holding our 1st New Member Orientation of the year on Monday, Feb 20th.

When:    Monday, Feb 20th, from 5:00 to 5:45 pm (preceeding the chapter meeting)
Where:  Tampa Marriott hotel

This session is designed for:
-- new chapter members and prospective chapter members who are interested in learning more about the opportunities and benefits that the chapter provides
-- existing members who are looking to find out how to get more involved
-- inactive members who want to get reconnected with the chapter
-- any member who wants to gain membership benefits quickly.

The session will cover general chapter information, chapter sponsored events & schedule, resources that are available to members (both at the chapter level and at the national level), professional certification opportunities, and of course tremedous volunteer opportunities.

In addition you will also have the opportunity to meet many of the chapter board members.

Details

Over the next several months we are planning to initiate a variety of projects within the Chapter's finance, marketing, and operations areas. These projects include developing and executing action plans, updating and expanding our policies and procedures, setting processes in place to measure progress and performance, and forming project teams to provide even better member services.

There are diverse opportunities available on these projects – from writing project charters, scope statements, and project plans to managing projects and tracking their progress.

Why would you want to volunteer for such activities?

 

 PMI is a global organization of volunteers at the national, regional, and chapter levels. Our chapter relies on volunteers to provide the services and value our members join PMI for.  Many volunteer opportunities are available in the chapter, whether its being a member of the Board of Directors, taking leadership roles on major chapter projects, or helping out with key events such as the annual Symposium.

Volunteering with the chapter provides the benefit of excellent learning and networking opportunities. Outside of the organization you work in, the chapter is the best source to utilize and increase your leadership skills, network with other project management professionals, and grow as a leader in a global professional organization.
